Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV
Hebrews · chapter 12 · verses 1–2
1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.Hebrews 12:1-2 · King James Version
What Hebrews 12:1-2 means
Two things get laid aside, and only one of them is sin. A weight can be harmless in itself and still slow you down. The race is run with patience rather than speed, and the runner's eyes are off the track entirely, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Here observe what is the great duty which the apostle urges upon the Hebrews, and which he so much desires they would comply with, and that is, to lay aside every weight, and the sin that did so easily beset them, and run with patience the race set before them.
