Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Hebrews · chapter 11 · verse 1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Hebrews 11:1 · King James Version
What Hebrews 11:1 means
This is the Bible's own definition of faith, and it isn't wishful thinking. Substance and evidence are solid words — they describe something that's actually there. Faith isn't believing without a reason. It's acting on what God said before you can see how it turns out.

Here we have, I. A definition or description of the grace of faith in two parts. 1. It is the substance of things hoped for. Faith and hope go together; and the same things that are the object of our hope are the object of our faith.
