What Psalm 144:1 means
David was a soldier and this is a soldier's psalm. The striking part is teacheth — he credits the skill itself to God, not only the victory. The psalm goes on to ask what man is, that thou takest knowledge of him.

3LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
